Project Description
Got a Busted Garage? Want a new Garage Door?
You’re in the right place.
Queen Creek, Arizona
Tom and his family bought their beautiful, brand new house in Queen Creek, Arizona in November of 2016. Not even one year in, they found themselves needing a whole new garage door. The cause? Well, Tom’s door blew inward during one of Arizona’s raging hurricanes of 2017. Okay, let’s be honest, that was an exaggeration, we all know that our Arizona storms should not be blowing in brand new garage doors! The real cause was that the builder of Tom’s home used the absolute cheapest garage door we have ever seen. This door had the thinnest metal a company could possibly get away with (learn about garage door metal gauges here), L-shaped stiles with minimal glue (learn about stiles here), and most importantly, a thin, flat bottom extrusion which buckled under moderate wind (learn about bottom extrusions here). All of the cutting-of-corners in the manufacturing of this door, combined with the flat bottom extrusion, caused the door to be a complete loss as a result of very common Arizona winds. This was the point of failure on Tom’s garage. Because the bottom extrusion was flat and not L or U-shaped, the winds caused it to quickly fail and bend inward, and the rest of his door was history, rippling upward and causing irreparable damage to the other sections of the door.
But Tom’s house was brand new, he had a home warranty, right? Yep, but they denied his claim because they considered it a “natural disaster” (the absurdity here cannot be overstated). Okay, but Tom had homeowner’s insurance, right? Why didn’t he use that to get his door fixed? Well, luckily for Tom and his family, Busted Garage was here to help, and we did it all for less than his insurance deductible. We installed a brand new Amarr Hillcrest 3000 garage door, featuring three layers of protection from the elements, as well as insulation with an R-value of 9.05. Now Tom’s garage, which also doubles as his woodworking shop, has a high quality, extremely rigid, insulated garage door to keep him safe and comfortable from the elements.
Although it is very unfortunate that Tom’s homebuilder let him down on multiple levels, we are grateful that, as a result of its poor choices and service, we had the opportunity to meet Tom and his family, and provide him with a high-quality garage door and the peace of mind that comes with it, as well as a value that cannot be matched anywhere in our industry. Bear in mind folks, when Tom’s original garage door manufacturer cut corners, and we literally mean that they cut the corner of his bottom extrusion off, they didn’t do him or his family any favors. The builder of his home probably used such a door because it was cheap—to save a few bucks, but in the end, Tom had to cut the check. Busted Garage would never install an inferior door like this, but don’t think that quality has to cost you more. Tom told us that when he was shopping around for a garage door, he couldn’t find anything close to the value he found with us. Busted Garage does inexpensive work, NOT cheap work!
